Firstly, ensure that everything is properly connected and the other features are working. My 2 favorite ways to test are via the recoil negator feature or the build'n'run feature in Zen Studio. For simplicity reasons, we'll just stick with the recoil negator testing.
Make sure the recoil negator is enabled in the compiler of Zen Studio and you've programmed your device with the current version of the script.

Hold out your pickaxe and press both triggers at the same time
If your character isn't looking down while doing this, it's a connection error, if your character is looking down and it is working as intended, it's likely a setup error, which we'll be more than happy to help with.
